For the Record: Jacob's 11th birthday (2019)

Let's take a trip back to 2019 for Jacob's birthday.

August 2019 - Jacob's 11th birthday

We got to spend Jacob's birthday with Nana and Papa at the beach.  

That is a chocolate cake with chocolate mouse on top and kit kats surrounding it. Last year there were M&Ms all in the top part but we learned that was really TOO MUCH.

For the Record Books: Jacob is such a curious, thoughtful, insightful, playful and fun person. He's always up for a challenge, a debate, he's ready to negotiate, knows what he wants and is often persistent enough to get it. He loves math, writing and learning about history. His hobbies are sports - any and every sport that someone will play with him, in particular basketball, baseball and soccer (in that order) and coming up with new recipes for sauces for any given meal. He's got a ton of enthusiasm and loves having people around. He finished 5th grade with the 6 word motto "Sometimes I'm smaller than my brain." We love our big thinker, Jacob.     

 

For the Record: Owen's 2019 /2020 Birthdays

Since I haven't posted anything in almost a year, I thought I'd start my comeback with birthdays I've yet to document during that time (oops, Owen's had TWO!, so let's start with Owen:

June 2019 - Owen's 9th birthday

This guy didn't give me any ideas of what he wanted for his 9th birthday so he fake smiled his way through opening the gifts I thought he might like that he didn't, oops. He didn't make that mistake for his 10th birthday. 

June 2020 - Owen's 10th birthday (DOUBLE DIGITS!!!)

Owen turned 10 in the middle of a global pandemic! I'll touch on that subject more in a later post, BUT he made the best of it but giving me a list of gift ideas and had several of his friends and family come by for a drive/walk-by birthday party. It was a beautiful day and very memorable! 

For the Record books 9 & 10: Owen is a quietly confident soul. He generally goes with the flow and is usually willing to try new foods, adventures, and challenges. He's very competitive and extremely feisty. He's one to watch on the basketball court because despite being the smallest on his team he plays with the heart and attitude of someone who is 7ft; no one sees him coming. He loves math, does not like writing, prefers graphic novels over chapter books, wears his tops inside out and mismatches his socks on purpose (could that be called personal style?). He's a constant playmate for Jacob, they even get along most of the time, and sometimes for Amelia too. He'll be a great babysitter one day - he reads to Amelia, knows how to put her to bed, and is good at keeping her entertained. He's quite fun to have around.
