Whirlwind March

I can't believe all this happened in March.

Amelia discovered her own perfectly sized rocking chair.

Nana and Papa came to visit on their way home from spending the winter in Florida.

We went on a big road trip for spring break and started the adventure at a Leonard (Memaw's side) family gathering. My namesake, Miss Ann Elizabeth, is in the middle of the group and hasn't changed a bit in all these years. Here she is at 92, along with loads of our cousins.

We got to visit with Larry's daughter Kathy.

Amelia spots Miss Ann.

Easter Sunday in Richmond at Memaw's house, and we had a big Easter egg hunt with Steve's brother Matt and his family.

The road trip continued south to Aberdeen, NC to see Mary (Larry's youngest daughter) and Rick and their dogs and horses. This was our first visit with them since they moved from Richmond a few years ago and we got to pet the horses, tour around town, eat ice cream, and even play some basketball.

Our final spring break destination was Hilton Head, SC with friends. TEN kids and 7 adults (8 when Mike joined us later in the week), we had an amazing time with this crazy crew. The house we stayed in was awesome, we played on the beach, biked around town, saw alligators, swam in the pool, ate ice-cream every day, relaxed by the palm trees...and danced in conga lines.

Amelia and one of her other favorite "mamas" Laura.

I made the road trip down to Hilton Head with the kids on my own since Mike had to work, and except for the part where Amelia didn't sleep at night...at all...it went pretty smoothly. BUT I was thrilled when Mike finally arrived, yahoo!!!

We really had such a great time - sad it's over! Ava, Hannah and Jacob doing some sort of pool jump configuration worthy of a 10.

After  breaking the trip up on the way down, we made the trip home in one day (again, double yahoo for Mike's arrival). It took 12 hours, but we made the boys' first ever stop at Cracker Barrel, traffic wasn't as horrible as I would have thought, the boys watched movies almost the whole time, and Amelia sat there in her carseat patiently for about 11 hours and 15 minutes of it. That girl. Amazing.

This is not a fair representation of the whole drive home. Just the last 45 minutes.

Back home, we fit in a visit with my old C-SPAN buddy, Rachel, and her little boy, Noah, who is about six months older than Amelia.

This was how big they were the last time we visited, obviously we need to do better.
