Judgment Free Zone

I've written in the past about Jacob's adventures in tape during his rest time:  he has various "installations" hanging from his ceiling; I often go up to get him and can barely get in the door with the web of tape he's placed all around his room; things like that. 

But yesterday I was surprised to find him smiling/smirking in his room, on his bed, with tape wrapped around both legs and arms mummy-style.  I didn't realize until I had carried him downstairs and put him down that he couldn't even straighten his legs to stand up!  

Later, after I helped him unravel, he told me that he'd like to do it again for soccer practice...but this time just up to his knee so he could run. 

Disclaimer:  Before any pictures or videos were taken, I made sure the tape wasn't too tight and that he wasn't in any sort of pain.  Other than being frustrated that he couldn't walk, the subject was perfectly happy with his accomplishment.

Guess Who?!

Guess who was born?!

Stacey & Jared had their baby, little Joshua Berkeley Schwartz.  

And he's fitting right in - already joined us for an exciting adventure with the boys to the new Georgetown water park. 

Guess who got married?!

Mr. and Mrs. Bill and Charlotte Harney!  

What a fun wedding and even more fun that they live on Long Island, many future visits ahead.

Mary and Rick came to help celebrate. I hadn't seen them since they moved to South Carolina last year.

Mike's old college buddy Jim, his wife Teran, and their two kids, Nila and Grayson came for the afternoon on their way back to Jersey.  We hadn't seen them in a few years - four kids later here we are.  What a fun time catching up!

A week (or two) in the life of a Super Hero

First, to the moon...

 Then back to mission control to receive ... the mission.

 Finally landed on the water planet.  Must save small humans from getting completely drenched.

 Mission ... is ... NOT ... accomplished.  This time.

Thankful to have bigger cousin to at least help keep Super Hero dry.

We are in a Super Hero phase of three year old life.  Usually whatever pajamas Jacob is wearing convey the Super Hero he is at that moment (mostly Captain America, sometimes Shark man if Cpt. A is dirty, and on occasion, because who doesn't love a cape, Superman).  If his underwear is Super Hero underwear then he is like a double super hero - Shark man who can fly to the moon like... Darth Vader, for instance.  Fortunately, I've been able to convince him that super heroes wear every day clothes when they go to very public places.  Also fortunately, Owen is happily willing to play the sidekick and he does so with aplomb.

Welcome Laila & Olivia

Jaime and Jared welcomed their little girls Laila and Olivia on April 11!  We visited them a couple weeks later and I gotta say they really seemed to have this whole "having three children, two of whom are newborns" thing down.  They didn't even look tired.  Amazing.  It was great to see them, meet the girls, and visit with the rest of the family while we were in town.
