Spring Days

Last week Owen and I got to visit with my friend and old roommate Kemp (and her daughter Jenna), who I hadn't seen in AGES and AGES.  Very fun to catch up and the kids got along marvelously, playing on the playground and creek nearby.  I'm so thankful Kemp was with us as she seems to have nerves of steel and didn't even bat an eyelash when, shortly after this picture was taken, the kids found a particularly brave frog by the creek, then both got really close to it, then Owen proceeded to touch it (I think Jenna did too, I couldn't watch) and then of course... PUT THAT SAME FINGER IN HIS MOUTH moments later.  This is right up there with the time when Owen put a rock in his mouth when he was 1.5  and then I discovered (quickly, at least) it was NOT a rock, but rather a slug.  Kemp was there making sure they didn't fall in the creek while my focus was to outwardly pretend the entire event didn't completely...gross...me...out.  Blech. Memorable moments.

I rarely have a day with just Jacob these days, but the opportunity arose recently and we took advantage!

In the spirit of the 10 mile race I ran the other week, I signed Jacob & Owen up for their own little kids "fun run" with some friends and they all got a number and a t-shirt, ran a half mile(!), crossed a finish line, had their pictures taken by an official photographer, and got a medal at the end. It was so fun, though Jacob took it all very seriously.

I think Josh was protesting that, once again, he was only allowed to observe.

The Twins turn ONE!

Laila and Olivia turned one last week!  We went up to New York for the weekend to celebrate the occasion and had such fun visiting with everyone.  I swear (at least from my perspective) it seems like Jaime just had them and now they're already one - this year flew by. Crazy. Jaime and Jared deserve a pat on the back for surviving the first year with TWINS!!!

And look how big Drew is getting. He's only three months old and I made him laugh already.  Admittedly, I'm very funny and have a way with infants, so it could be a few months before he does it again since we had to go home and usually kids don't meet that milestone til they're like 6 months or so, give or take a month, but still, I can tell he's going to be a lot of fun.

Owen was quite the little daredevil at this party.

What I want to know is what was so important that Owen was telling the lady before he slides down? Too funny.

Cherry Blossom

Does it look like these gals each just ran 10 miles?  Cause we did!  After a lengthy hiatus (and six kids later), Leslie, Stacey and I spent the last few months training for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler and here we are at the finish line.

All the boys came to cheer us on!
