A week (or so) in the life

Some pics from the last week or so.
Owen loves his older brother. Jacob is intrigued by his little brother.

Jacob likes to help Mike bring the trashcans back from the street on trash day. I wonder when that will lose its luster.

Crazy hair day at school

One month & planes, trains, & automobiles

Owen turned one month this last week and his big accomplishments are staying awake a little longer each day, eating a lot (he's already 10 lbs!), playing "peek-a-boo" with Jacob, and sleeping pretty well at night.
We'll keep him.

Becky and Graham came to visit and meet Owen. Graham had mixed feelings about his mom holding Owen. So cute!

Meanwhile, Jacob's love of vehicles, particularly fire trucks and "ice" trucks (as you know from previous posts) has only heightened this summer. We went to a park last weekend and he spent about 2 hours hoarding every toy truck in sight, even asking to leave the sprayground after about 15 minutes to get back to "his" fire truck in the playground's sandbox. That's saying something. The other night he gathered all of his planes, trains and automobiles and lined them up on a table. It's true lurve.

This week is Spirit Week at Jacob's school; today was crazy hat day. Isn't this just the craziest hat you've ever seen? It was either this or his pajama bottoms.

Walks

We've been trying to stick with going on walks before bedtime, but lately it's been tough for us all to go together with the extreme heat. Finally it cooled down enough so that all four of us got to go.

Yay! I got to go on the walk too!... I'm smiling inside.

4th of July weekend

This week Amy came to visit (returning from an exciting adventure to NY, London and Spain - welcome back, finally!); Memaw came up and provided much needed support over the long weekend while Mike was on call (I'm still wondering - learning? - how exactly one manages alone even just for a weekend with two under two?); and we had a great fourth of July going to Aunt Nancy's neighborhood parade (with REAL fire trucks! wish I'd been able to get a picture of Jacob's face) and a party with lots of water/oudoor activities.

One thing I've learned in these past three weeks is that it's a little harder to take pictures when holding one kid while watching the other. I'll keep working on that. In the meantime, here are a few we managed to get.
