Shermantics: April 2014

Whoops, I took quite a looooooooooooong (spring) break didn't I? So let's just get on with it then, shall we? We've spent the last couple of months doing our thing - visits from Nana and Papa and Memaw, Jacob going to school (whenever it wasn't a snow day) working hard learning to read and write, Owen doing the same, mixed with little adventures now and then like lunch with Rachel from C-SPAN, visiting Pepaw for story time, starting soccer lessons, checking out the samples at Costco around lunchtime, etc., I ran a ton in preparation for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler which I ran two weeks ago and set a personal record!, and Mike's been at work, work, work (with a side trip to Atlanta with friends so don't feel too sorry for him).

All of that and no pictures to tell the tale. Fortunately spring break intervened and I made the effort to capture a few moments on film this week. We started the grand week with a whimper when our original plan to go to an Easter festival at a nearby farm was thwarted by not being open that day. I imagine it was quickly forgotten when we made our way to a park instead and were followed by the ice cream truck (they are inescapable!) and the boys had their first ice cream truck ice cream of the season. Then it rained and I decided not to take any pictures of them in their pajamas all day watching movies. Then we met up with Lyle and spent the day in his neck of the woods, then to the Theater (British accent) to see the Jungle Book, then a visit to the zoo (MISTAKE, so crowded over spring break!), closely followed by an Easter celebration and egg hunt with the Schwartzes and Grandma Jackie, and later the Whites, and finally Owen and I made the trek back out to the aforementioned Easter farm festival where he (drum roll) RODE ON A PONY among other things! This from the child who is scared of dogs (or any unpredictable, moving animal, really). So proud. And that was Spring Break 2014.
