Just the boys

While I was away basking in the Florida sun over the weekend, Mike and Jacob got to spend some quality time together. Mike prepared a full schedule for each day (play dates, dinner dates, visits to the zoo); so packed with activity that Jacob took 2hr+ naps and basically begged to go to bed at night. Impressive work! Jacob still wakes up around 7am, though, so there's room for improvement, but 7am's better than the old days.

At the zoo's bird (or as he says "BBbbbbbbbbbb", with gusto) exhibit.

This is a new trick he enjoys - wiping up when he spills something (he even throws the towel away in the trash, but then unfortunately gets distracted by all that glorious trash and the moment quickly goes south). Wonder how long the thrill will last.

Jacob will be a year and a half tomorrow and we are just having the best time watching him learn and grow!

Snowday

Today was a breath of fresh air as the sun came out and the snow slowly started to melt. We spent a lot of the day outside shoveling and walking in the snow, which has become one of Jacob's favorite activities. Here are a few pictures:

Jacob wasn't ready to come back inside when we were, and he pulled out all his most convincing facial expressions and tactics to try and change our minds. Below is a lengthy video (sorry) after coming back inside at the end of the day. I thought it was funny, watching as Jacob is confronted with choosing between two favorite things, walking in the snow or snack time. Which will it be?

brrrrrrrrrr

I have never seen so much snow in my life and I was living a perfectly happy existence that way. But the snow came, we didn't make it to NY for Heath's first birthday party (major upset), and instead we settled in for a weekend watching the blizzard from the warmth of our humble abode ... and then the power went out, and we got to experience what truly saving on our energy bill would be like. By Sunday afternoon temps INSIDE the house were at 45 degrees and I was ready to abandon ship. Fortunately, Steve was able to get a few blocks away from our house (as snowplows had yet to come by our street), and he, Nancy, Sam and Anderson saved the day! The power was back on by Monday morning and we are now finally all back at home and living at our usual warm and toasty 67 degree setting. I'll never complain that it's cold in this house again (assuming the power doesn't go out again this week with a second wallop of snow heading our way Tuesday, can't wait). Here's a glimpse into our freezing weekend.
