Water park

If I learned anything this weekend it is this - Jacob loves water parks. I just wish I'd learned this in June.

Nats

It was dollar night at Nats stadium last night, so we decided that would be a perfect opportunity to take Jacob to his first baseball game. He loved it; smiled and clapped and stared people down and screamed (a lot) and I think would have stayed all night if we'd been willing to let him. We didn't.

He laughs!

As Jacob nears his first birthday, Mike and I were looking through old pics and videos that we've taken since he was born and this was one of our very favorites. All three of us had taken off work (a rarity!) for a snow day and we were heading out to play in the snow. For months I'd been wondering when/if Jacob was ever going to laugh out loud. He was 6 months old at this point and nothing. Not a giggle, not a "heh", nothing. He would smile so big like he was on the verge, but only silence. Then for whatever reason on this particular day, after bundling him up and putting on the hat Nana knitted for him, he saw himself and this is what happened. I couldn't believe it and I'm glad Mike got it on camera cause it was another long month or so before he did it again. What a great moment.

Fancy Shmancy

Memaw was in town all last week helping watch Jacob while we continue to get settled in the house. We had a great time hanging out together, although Jacob barely recognized her after she got a fancy haircut before she left. Fancy Shmancy.

Barber

Sooooooooooooooo, anyone notice anything different in these pictures??

That's right Jacob got his first official haircut (not counting the unofficial one a couple months ago when I almost cut off his ear with BLUNT scissors?!). I warned Mike this was going to be a scene; I would be taking video, pictures, saving scraps of hair for the baby book, etc. and it was, but not because of me. Everything started off fine, but the memories must have flooded back to him from the "unofficial cut" earlier this summer because every time he saw the lady come towards him with those scissors -- trouble. Let's just say it wasn't his favorite experience (nor anyone else's at the salon that day). But, he survived -- smiling by the end (well, he smiled when he was finally a safe distance from the lady with the scissors), I got my pictures and locks of hair, and we were outta there. She did a great job and I have a feeling we'll be back there before we know it with how fast his hair is growing.

Honey

As you know, we moved. Photos of the house to come soon! In the meantime, here are a few pictures of some of the other things we've been doing and people we've seen in the last week or so: a honey extraction from my coworker's beehive (interesting hobby), Nana and Grandpa visited (and helped so much with moving, Jacob, unpacking, prepping the house), and we had a barbecue while Charlotte and Bill were in town.
