Owen Turns SIX

Owen turned SIX in June! We celebrated with cake and a serious water balloon fight. At six, Owen is a man with a plan. He's quietly determined - often when he isn't super good at something I'll catch him practicing on his own, and maybe a week later he's got it down - for example SWIMMING! Yahoo! A month ago the kid was wearing a life vest, hated getting his face wet and clinging to the side of the pool. Then over two weeks he started practicing strokes, putting his face in the water, and now he's swimming all on his own. I'm so so proud of him. Same with biking. I've learned that sometimes when I just leave him alone to "get" it, that's just what he'll do. He's funny, thoughtful, generous, and observant. He's a good friend and he loves to play just about any sport. He's also a super awesome big brother, helping Amelia when she needs it most of the time, and only antagonizing her on occasion, and he's super good at being a little brother to Jacob, always ready to play yet is very accommodating and flexible while also standing up for himself when it matters (feisty, I call it). He loves to collect cards, do extreme dot-to-dot books, build legos, cook/bake, draw, write, and find things to do to challenge himself (ex: America Ninja Warrior courses all over our backyard). We just love love love him so.

We went to a college baseball game to celebrate on the actual day. Baseball has become their favorite sport over this past year.
