9 months

Jacob turned 9 months this week! This month he's been particularly busy working on growing two bottom teeth, rolling over both ways, holding his bottle all by himself, showing an interest in crawling one day in the future (maybe, possibly, perhaps), picking up a cheerio and putting it in his mouth (at least one out of every 5 makes it in there, the rest are stuck in his palms), graduating from the baby bath to the tub, and becoming even more proficient in sitting up without falling over - too often. What a busy month; watch out 10 months, Jacob's on his way!

40th Anniversary

This past weekend we went up to New York to help celebrate Lois and Mark's 40th wedding anniversary! We had such a great time visiting with family, eating way too much, and Jacob especially enjoyed watching and poking his cousins Heath and Madison.

Drooooooooooooool

Though this goes against every baby book out there, someone decided to start teething (FINALLY!) yesterday and no one in this household got any sleep last night since that someone cannot breathe through his nose at the moment. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so Mike fashioned this elevated bedding system out of pillows (just for his morning nap, and under near constant adult supervision).


The funny thing is that we've thought he was teething on numerous occasions at various times over the last 4 months or so. He drooled so much in December I was certain he was going to be an early teether. I now know I had NO idea what a lot of drool was. Today he was drooling out of his mouth, out of his nose, and out of his eyes. We were pleased his ears didn't decide to contribute. I actually got a picture of the incoming tooth (it's still embedded for the most part in the gum), but it might be one of those things that only a mother and father can see at this point? It's not the shiny white part on the far right that you might initially think could be the tooth, it's just to the left of that shiny white part -- more of a light pinkish looking spot. And his shirt, you'll notice in the other pics, is two shades of blue -- normal shirt color, and normal shirt color plus an exorbitant amount of drool.

Mother's Day!

For my first mother's day, Jacob helped Mike make me breakfast in bed, but then he tried to eat it himself.... yum, BACON and challah french toast!













Then we went to Jackie's for a special mother's day lunch where Lyle and Jacob got to play outside. It was such a beautiful day!

Jacob has developed a new trick. He is on the move -- rolling. He has been able to roll from his stomach to his back for months now (booooring), but the coveted back to stomach roll has always eluded him. That darn arm always got in the way. WELL, sometime this week the light bulb went on and he's been rolling his way around ever since -- the only thing stopping him now is the furniture and sometimes adults when they're paying attention. The second video isn't the most demonstrative of his capabilities, but it's a little taste considering it was taken moments before bedtime.

Splashtime

Jacob got to take a bath in the tub today instead of his baby tub. He took full advantage of the opportunity to splash water -- this is him winding down.

Rae's visit

Rae came to visit all the way from Austin, TX. She has a very busy life, world traveling and stuff, but we were excited she could stop by for a little bit on her visit to DC. It was so good to see Rae, even though the visit was TOO BRIEF! I think it's time for a visit to Austin.
